Songs for Becoming (2019) was developed as a site-specific installation and live performance with words activated by local participants, invited by Lotte Møller, the director of die raum, Berlin, Germany.
Inspired by die raum's architectural features, NaoKo looked for a appropriate literature to 'borrow' words for the project and came across with the Epic of Gilgamesh. By investigating the aspects of ‘borrowing’ text, voice and site, this project served as the basis for my doctoral research.
