As the title suggests, the project is dedicated to Adrian Piper. It was a public intervention made through performing in disguise, dealing with the idea of race, identity, and language, questioning what Britishness is. The project was then selected, invited, and commissioned for a variety of events in 2007.

The text stitched on the fence in London was a Google translation of a conversation NaoKo had with her uncle in Japanese in his dialect.

Her uncle actually said, “You have become so Anglicised.” “Is it good or bad?”, I replied. “It’s not a compliment.”, he said.

The Google translation said, “You, the [wa] which is the Briton.” “Is it good or bad?” “You are not praised.”

Mala Plastika was a five-day art festival organised by Zagreb Academy of Arts in Croatia. NaoKo was invited to create the interventions and run a workshop for BA Fine Art Media students. Unfortunately, she cannot remember or find information about what the text says in English.
